Gnawa Music in Khamlia
Merzouga, Morocco · with Achabou Luxury Camp
Drums, iron castanets and songs in the village of the Gnawa.
About this activity
Khamlia, a few minutes from the camp, is the village of the Gnawa – families whose ancestors came across the Sahara from West Africa. Their music, with big drums, the guembri and the iron castanets called qraqeb, is famous in all of Morocco.
In a music house of the village the musicians welcome you with tea and play for you. Often they invite visitors to dance or try the drums.
You can combine the visit with the 4×4 tour, the bike tour or the cooking class in Khamlia.
